Bressingham 1940s Day

On Sunday 12th May, Bressingham Steam Museum hosts its ever popular 1940s Day.

Visitors can take a step back in time and come and experience the sights, sounds and spirit of the 1940s in this wonderful themed event. Hosted together with the Dad’s Army Appreciation Society, with participation from a wide range of groups.

It’s a perfect day out for any lovers of that period of history and its also a great learning opportunity  for students and young people who can immerse themselves in the memorabilia, vehicles, fashions, music and more of the day. Of course, the event is set against the backdrop of our wonderful collection and the museum, railways and gallopers will all be open and running.

The museum will be operating at ‘Full Steam’ schedule on Sunday. This will include 4 narrow gauge railway locomotives, Standard Gauge Brake Van rides, plus both our own and visiting steam rollers and traction engines will be in steam. The ever popular Gallopers will also be running.

There will be displays of period vehicles, including the original Jones’ Butcher’s van from Dad’s Army, visiting from the Dad’s Army Museum, along with the museum’s own collection of Dad’s Army vehicles.

As well as the Dad’s Army vehicles, the day will feature multiple other period vehicles, themed displays, re-enactment groups, stalls and musical entertainment.
